QuarterBack is our internal, custom-built QA/QC platform. It watches three things continuously:
- Hardware and system health. CPU load, memory, temperature, and network performance on every field unit, tracked live, so we know each box is running as expected.
- Sensor and data integrity. GPS and accelerometer data checked for accuracy, latency, and completeness — confirming the sensors are reading the roller cleanly.
- Measurement quality. As compaction data comes in, QuarterBack scores each section on how reliable the underlying data is.
That layered check means we catch a problem long before it reaches your dashboard.
how the system scores its own confidence
The part we're proudest of is that QuarterBack grades its own data in real time. Each field box scores how confident it is in what it's collecting. When a reading misses our quality threshold — missing data, a sensor interruption, a dropped connection — the box flags it as low-confidence on the spot.
Those flagged areas show up immediately on our internal maps. When a patch of the mat looks inconsistent, the question is always why. Sometimes it's a real cold spot or a genuine low-coverage area. Sometimes it's just a sensor gap. The confidence score lets us tell the two apart, which means we can:
- Separate a real density issue from a data artifact. If the map shows an outlier, we know whether it's the mat or the signal.
- Justify every correction. When we clean a map, we can show exactly why.
