inside compactica: the system behind our own qa and qc.

we don't just build qa systems. we run on them.

Compactica's job is to give asphalt crews proof of what happened on the mat — every pass, every lift, in real time. We hold our own equipment to the same standard before any of that data reaches a project.

Every field unit, every reading, and every density result runs through our internal QA/QC platform, QuarterBack, before you ever see it. The rigor we put in front of your operators, we run on ourselves first.

what quarterback does

QuarterBack is our internal, custom-built QA/QC platform. It watches three things continuously:

That layered check means we catch a problem long before it reaches your dashboard.

how the system scores its own confidence

The part we're proudest of is that QuarterBack grades its own data in real time. Each field box scores how confident it is in what it's collecting. When a reading misses our quality threshold — missing data, a sensor interruption, a dropped connection — the box flags it as low-confidence on the spot.

Those flagged areas show up immediately on our internal maps. When a patch of the mat looks inconsistent, the question is always why. Sometimes it's a real cold spot or a genuine low-coverage area. Sometimes it's just a sensor gap. The confidence score lets us tell the two apart, which means we can:

Each box runs its own instance of QuarterBack and checks data as it's captured, so by the time it reaches our processors we already know its quality.

QuarterBack doesn't just monitor data. It reads it.

What's next is a layer called Mission Control, built on top of QuarterBack's live monitoring. It will let our team watch every active system across every job at once — fleetwide visibility, trends, and history — so we can see when, where, and why an issue happened, even after the roller has left the site.

In short: QuarterBack doesn't just watch the data. It reads it, and it tells us what to trust, what to filter, and what to act on.

always on, and proactive

QuarterBack isn't a passive log. When something drifts out of range, our customer success team gets an automated alert — and we reach out to the crew running that equipment, often before they've noticed anything on their end.

That means we catch the problem before it touches your project data. Early intervention keeps you out of incomplete logs, rework, and lost data, and keeps your density record clean from the first pull to closeout.

why this matters for you

quarterback is internal, but you feel it on every job.

More reliable density data on every section. Fewer interruptions from a hardware or connection issue. Consistent performance across your fleet and your projects. And confidence that the record backing your pay factor was validated at every level — from the sensor on the roller to the report you hand the DOT.

proof of reliability, built in

You rely on Compactica for a defensible, data-rich density record. QuarterBack is how we earn that. We run the same rigor on our own systems that we put in front of your operators — so every measurement we deliver is backed by a live QA process that never stops watching.
